Business Startup Program

The Sḵwx̱wú7meshLíl̓wat St̓át̓yemc Business Start-up Program consisted of four 1 ½ day learning sessions, including Indigenous entrepreneur guest speakers, with each learning session focusing on a specific aspect of the business model canvas. We also matched each entrepreneur one-on-one with a mentor, supported each entrepreneur on the development of their individual business model canvas, and provided an opportunity to pitch their business concept for a $5000 cash prize. Through the funding raised, we were able to provide the program free of charge, including travel and accommodation costs, and each entrepreneur who completed the program received a $1000 honorarium.

The Whistler Centre for Sustainability designed, created and facilitated this business start-up program for Indigenous entrepreneurs in the region.
