The Whistler Centre, in partnership with Tourism Kamloops, held a successful workshop on Growing Event Tourism December 2. The workshop provided attendees with strategies to develop and grow event tourism in their community in order to support local economic development. The workshop included a wonderful welcome from the Tk’emlups te Secwepemc, presentations from arts, music, sporting, and Aboriginal tourism events, and an action-packed world café session. Participants were provided an event tourism ‘strategy on a page’ from which to start building their community’s unique value proposition for event tourism.

Participants learnt how:

•  Event tourism can help your community prosper
•  To maximize community benefits
•  To develop a comprehensive tourism events strategy
