Cheeying Ho
Executive Director
As the founding executive director of the Whistler Centre for Sustainability, Cheeying is responsible for business planning and development and organizational development, as well as continuing to seek opportunities to advance sustainability practices. In this position, she works with local governments and communities across Canada on sustainability planning and implementation, as well as policy development. Before taking on this position, Cheeying was the Executive Director of Smart Growth BC, the leading province-wide non-governmental organization advancing sustainable land use and development, for eight years. Prior to that, she headed up BEST – a sustainable transportation policy and education organization.
She is a former high school and college teacher of science and mathematics. She recently finished an assignment as a member of the Prime Minister’s External Advisory Committee on Cities and Communities, as well as a term on the Board of Vancity Credit Union and currently sits on a number of other advisory boards and committees including the Mayor of Vancouver’s Greenist City Action Team. Cheeying likes to play in the mountains with her partner, Tom, son Wei Tien, and step-son Jack.
